Lighting Artist Portfolio - Sam & Max Save the World Remastered!
While wrapping up the Batman: Shadows Edition for LCG Entertainment (new Telltale), I was contacted by Dan Connors (the co-founder of Telltale Games) in regards to a secret new project. He, along with Randy Tudor, Jon Sgro, and Jake Rodkin (four veterans of both LucasArts and Telltale Games) had created a tiny startup company (Skunkape Games) with the purpose of remastering the Sam & Max games. They jointly purchased the rights to the games and were hoping I would spearhead the lighting given my experience with The Tool and the quality of my past work. I LOVE Sam & Max and immediately said yes!

Much like the remasters I had worked on previously, my work was to start from scratch and re-light the environments and characters from Sam & Max Save The World. Using a version of The Walking Dead: The Final Season Tool Engine, I moved to a fully dynamic lighting system while Jon Sgro updated the models and textures and Jake Rodkin developed additional color grading tools and fine tuned/polished the creative design. I appreciate the level of trust the guys had with my lighting - often letting me design the look for the lighting in environments and being open to a lot of my ideas.
The finished game looks amazing and Im especially proud with how often critics and players cite the lighting improvement! Also, I will always have so much gratitude to the above mentioned gentlemen for providing me with steady work during the Covid-19 epidemic that was ravaging the world (both economically and socially). Without this project, I am certain that I would have had to move back in with my parents or become homeless. So thanks, guys!
